Description
CHA-1 is the third/fourth tracking-type entity (like E-144 and previously E-142) within Section E. It is likely to be one of the first entities players will encounter when traversing through section, and it serves as another variant to E-1, being added after another variant by the name DG-1. It is considered to be the most hostile and deadliest of the variants, due to the amount of health it can remove from the player. It can spawn as early as room E-001 — identically to its other variants — where it will be seen idling in its "passive" phase for about two to three seconds before switching to its "neutral phase." It will remain in its neutral phase for about four to five seconds before culminating to its "aggressive phase," where it will quickly charge towards the player, knocking them back (similarly to A-80) as far as a room back. Afterwards, it will skip its passive phase and will remain idle in its neutral phase for another four to five seconds, repeating this cycle until it despawns.
Whenever it makes contact with a player, it will, as mentioned, knock them back an undetermined distance back and will deal a randomized amount of damage, ranging from a minor inconvenience to being a single hit away from dying. Such can prove to be a hindrance to the player's progress, as the entity can easily end their progress depending on the circumstances.
Like DG-1, its movement is not random, rather CHA-1 targets a random player to charge towards. A red exclamation mark appears over that player's head. As stated before, its randomized amount of damage can prove to be a major problem to come across, therefore it is recommended to avoid the entity at all costs. It is also worth mentioning that the entity can, and will continue to damage the player if they're hiding, though it will only do this once before moving onto another target. In cases where the player is alone, the entity will continuously charge towards the player until it despawns, where it will be seen descending into the floor in a similar manner to E-60.
Similarly to DG-1, CHA-1 can be a moderately difficult entity to encounter as it can deal little to a deadly amount of damage; it depends on the circumstances the players find themselves under. There may be a possibility two of them may spawn inside of the room which can significantly cause a spike in difficulty, though this is somewhat or definitely unlikely.
Appearance
CHA-1 is more pronounced in its appearance, as it is noticeably larger than the other variants. It is fitted with an irregular but quadrilateral appearance. It also has three solid bright-green eyes which renders it as a triclops (e.g. A-300, V-5). During its "passive" phase, it has a much more rectangular appearance and doesn't appear to pose any danger. It eyes are also rectangular and possesses black colored oblong-shaped pupils, and its mouth is closed though it reveals a few teeth. When progressing to its "neutral" phase, its eyes and pupils noticeably widen slightly as well as its mouth, giving it a much square-like appearance. Finally, when it progresses to its "aggressive" phase, its eyes and pupils widen to a high degree along with its mouth, which give it a much more threatening appearance. When despawning, CHA-1 will revert back to its "passive" phase and will slowly rotate about 45° while descending into the floor, its noises dying down and its colors fading into black simultaneously (similarly to X-60). It is accompanied by a glow of the same hue as its overall appearance, and this glow is affected by its despawning sequence, fading away as it phases through the floor.
Strategy & Tips
- To avoid potential attacks from CHA-1, players should move around to dodge its quick attack. If a player is playing solo, its best to move five rooms back, then move to the right when the entity is in its aggressive phase, dodging its attack. Go back to the latest room so you can dodge its next attack, repeating the process.
- CHA-1 can target hidden players, damaging them, though it will only do this once before moving onto another unhidden target. It is advised to stay hidden if there is another hostile entity approaching.
- Every player should attempt to find any hiding spot, thus providing them temporary protection from CHA-1's attacks.
- Players can attempt to lead CHA-1 into an area where its path is obfuscated (blocked) by lockers, which will leave it stuck in place whenever it attempts to charge at a player.
Notes
- Though CHA-1 may still damage players within lockers, some of its attempts to attack the players may be deflected by the exterior of the locker.
- CHA-1, as previously stated, will not move randomly like E-1 and will target them in a manner similar to DG-1.
- The entity will charge at the player, no matter where they are in the room as it can launch itself in the air if it needs to.
- Players have 4-8 seconds to react before CHA-1 attacks.
- CHA-1 does not actually have a 10% chance of replacing E-1; due to it only spawning if XE-1 doesn't spawn (98% or 49/50), the actual chance is 9.8% (49/500).
