Description
E-200, also nicknamed as "The False Memories", [1] is the seventh and final entity to roam Section E and is also the second doppelgänger-type entity of the section, appearing 140 rooms ahead of the first one, E-60. It was one of the first three entities to roam the section along with the aforementioned entity and E-1 in a line-up identical to the original Rooms with the inclusion of the latter entity. E-200 is also another reverse-movement type entity similarly to E-144 and its Section A counterpart, A-200. Furthermore, this entity is a decently rare one; although it always appears at room E-200, it may not make another appearance until rooms above E-300, which in turn makes E-200 a more difficult entity.
E-200 makes its debut upon the opening of room E-200, where a very loud elevator-like beep sound can be heard, denoting its presence. It will remain stationary in the center of the newly-opened room for three seconds before backtracking into the section — about 30 rooms — while emitting distorted sounds reminiscent of wind before playing its despawn cue, a very heavily edited and bass-boosted Macintosh Classic II Crash Chime. However, this first despawn cue is fake. After playing this fake cue, E-200 will rebound back to the current room while emitting a different ambience noise, those being various quiet whispers. After reaching its destination, it will finally despawn and play the same despawn cue, but at a noticeably higher pitch.
Despite its infrequent appearances, defending oneself against E-200 requires decent reaction time due to the entity giving players only around 3 seconds to hide from it. Since E-200's appearances can be sudden and unexpected, players may be caught off-guard when the entity spawns.
Reaction time aside, E-200 is a fairly easy entity to deal with, since it is fairly slow and, unlike its Section A counterpart, doesn't rush towards unhidden players. Beginner players may have some trouble dealing with the entity due to its stupefying nature, but it shouldn't be an issue later on as players grow accustomed to it.
Appearance
E-200's appearance is meant to pertain to the aesthetic referred to by "Weirdcore", [2] given its surreal and unsettling nature, as well as its use of sounds from older technology, in this case, a computer. It appears to be a hollow smiling face with a static-like effect, its eyes seemingly melting given by the numerous lines of white glitch-like runoff. Upon a closer look, E-200's pupils are actually more realistic eyes, and there is also a larger eye in the middle of its mouth. E-200 emits a very bright white glow reminiscent of A-200 with a noticeably smaller yellow aura behind it.
Strategy & Tips
- E-200 will always spawn at E-200, so players can use this information by immediately turning towards a nearby locker or table upon opening room E-200 in order to hide from the entity immediately before it travels back through the rooms.
- Players should remain hidden from E-200 once it rushes past the room, as it will always play a fake despawn cue to kill unsuspecting players. It is safe to get out of a hiding spot once E-200 plays an identical sound cue with a noticeably higher pitch, which tells the player that E-200 has truly despawned.
- Unlike E-144, who gives the player five seconds to hide when it spawns, E-200 give the player only about 3 seconds to react to it, so players should quickly seek the nearest hiding spot whenever E-200 spawns.
- Another strategy similar to one used to counter E-144: players can turn and face a nearby locker whenever opening a new door in case E-200 or E-144 spawns. This can be useful to players when reaching later rooms like E-300 to avoid losing their progress when the entities sometimes catch them off guard.
- E-200 usually spawns at least twice in one run.
Glitches & Bugs
- In the Entity Extravaganza Part 1 version in THE HISTORY, E-200 will only spawn once.
- This also happens with E-60.
Notes
- E-200 will always play a false despawn cue, as well as returning to the latest room.
- As of the second part of the Entity Extravaganza update, E-200 gives players much more time to hide, making it a less threatening entity.
- E-200 becomes significantly infrequent past its advent at room E-200, only appearing 1-3 more times further into the section.
Trivia
- E-200 is one of the few entities with a unique jumpscare.
- It also has the longest jumpscare in the game at approximately 5.52 seconds, the second being A-350 at around 4.3 seconds.
- E-200's despawning sound is a heavily distorted, louder Macintosh crash chime sound as described earlier.
- Its fake despawn cue is the same sound, though supposedly pitched down to 0.97.
- Coincidentally, its spawn sound is also pitched down to 0.97.
- E-200's Jumpscare (Post E-200 Appearing) Sound Originates to Radio Static Loop.
- Coincidentally, its spawn sound is also pitched down to 0.97.
- Its fake despawn cue is the same sound, though supposedly pitched down to 0.97.
- The background image in which E-200 does its first jumpscare is at Parkway Drugs, Albany St, Utica, New York.
- The origin of the background image is in this reddit post by Joe Scotto.
- Zvardin has given some entities nicknames. E-200 is one of those entities, with the given nickname being "The False Memories". [1]
- When E-200 jumpscares the player, it will now show an image of Arsenal Tube Station.
- The exact correlations between this entity and these environments are unknown (like its origin), though certain sound effects may indicate subtle relation.
- During its jumpscare sequence, various whispers can be heard muttering the words '"It's a dream."
- As said in the appearance section, three inverted realistic eyes can be seen in the place of its pupils and the middle of its mouth.
- E-200 can be triggered to spawn if a door that was automatically closed is opened again.
- E-200's sound origin is derived from the Sad Mac sound.
- E-200's future version appearance, besides being a little unsettling, looks 3-D compared to other entities.
- The reason why E-200 will get a redesign in Recoded Update is due to it not looking like a "weirdcore" entity.[3]
- E-200's spawn sound is a distorted version of the Macintosh Classic startup sound.
- Due to a bug, E-200 may occasionally despawn before successfully rebounding back to the main room. It is unknown if this is patched or not.
- The origin of the jumpscare background is the Arsenal tube station.
- E-200 has a mother and a father, the mother is a black void and the father is a white void.[8]
- At E-200's siblings' images (listed below) the 1st sibling shown on there is confirmed to be named "D-20" and is the little brother of E-200
- At E-200's siblings' images (listed below) the 2nd sibling shown on there is confirmed to be named "F-400" and is the older sister of E-200
- D-20 is 165 years old while F-400 is 412 years old.[9]
